Step -in Work in pairs and discuss the questions. 1. What do you know about the work of the Red Cross Society of China? 2. What other non-governmental organizations in China make use of volunteers? Step ming and scanning Check (√) the true statements. 1. Henri Durant witnessed 40,000 dead or dying soldiers in the summer of 1860. 2. Henri Durant managed to persuade local people to help him, and organized an emergency service for the wounded soldiers. 3. The Geneva Convention is an agreement which gives rights to wounded soldiers in international conflicts. 4. The International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is the largest humanitarian aid organization in the world. 5. The IRCRC now aims to protect the environment everywhere. 6. The IRCRC have three different symbols because it is sensitive to cultural differences. Step ural awareness Work in two groups and have a debate about the topic: Do you think you can learn more about another culture as a volunteer or as a tourist? Tourists are less likely to meet ordinary people except during service transactions such as shopping. However, tourists get to travel round and see more of a country than a volunteer, who stays in only a small part of it. | 1. Review the key points learned in the last lesson by asking questions. 2.
